1896 'One Penny' on 4/- Matabele Provisional, wide setting. Showing a strong shift of overprint right such that part of the ‘y’ of ‘Penny’ now appears at left. Gum disturbance, fine mint. Striking and very scarce. SG 52 var.
Note: this is the only example of a shift of this size we have encountered on any of these provisional overprints. |
