Postal History 1878 (January), entire with printed contents soliciting business for ‘Mataré Bruns’ (Merchants, Commission, and Shipping Agents) being established at Mossel Bay on the 1st January 1878. Addressed to Willowmore, bearing a single 1d carmine-red (SG 29) rectangle tied by the Small Triangular Obliterator. AVONTUUR (10 Jan) Dated Town Oval transit backstamp struck in red and Willowmore (11 Jan) single circle arrival datestamp. Very scarce early usage of the 1d post, especially emanating from a smaller office rather than the environs of Cape Town or Port Elizabeth.
