POSTAL HISTORY
AC526
Postal History 1896 (July), mourning envelope addressed to Mossel Bay bearing a single 1d rose-red (SG 59) tied by a neat GRAHAMS TOWN (31 July) single circle datestamp. The cover also received a boxed straight-line POSTED LATE cachet at Grahams Town (applied to mail posted too late to be included in mails already made up and closed, and for which no late fee surcharge had been paid). Mossel Bay (4 Aug) arrival backstamp. Small part of flap damaged through opening, otherwise a very fine example of this scarce instructional cachet.
