Postal History 1897 (January), envelope sent registered to Germany, bearing a 3d pale claret and 6d bright mauve (SG 43, 52b) each tied by ‘420’ BONCs with proving strikes of ALFRED DOCKS (26 Jan) single circle datestamps at left. Cape Town (26 Jan) transit and Frankfurt (15 Feb) arrival backstamps. Also with German receiving registration label affixed on front. A scarce combination of duties.
