1869 (December), small cover addressed to Scotland with address scribbled through. Endorsed ‘Per R.M.S. Briton’ and bearing a single 1/- deep green (with outer frame line, SG 26) tied by ‘27’ BONC with proving strike of SIMONS TOWN (18 Dec) single circle datestamp on reverse. Cape Town (18 Dec) transit struck on the front and Devonport (24 Jan 70) and Glasgow (25 Jan) arrival backstamp. The cover with fault at top, though a rare example of this 1/- stamp on cover exhibiting the high postal rates then in force.
