| 1894 (April), envelope addressed to Mafeking, bearing a single QV ½d vermilion (SG 9) tied by a ‘555’ BONC with proving VRYBURG (18 Apr) single circle datestamp alongside. Backstamped with Mafeking (19 Apr) single circle datestamp. The flap is unsealed signifying this is an example of the scarce ‘½d open letter rate’. Small unobtrusive repaired tear on reverse, otherwise very fine. |
