REVENUE c1938 KGVI £10 dull purple and ultramarine ‘key-plate’ inscribed ‘REVENUE REVENUE’. Two copies on piece the left cancelled with oval 'LANDS DEPARTMENT / BLANTRYE 20 AUG 1940' datestamp, the right with oval 'MOTOR TRAFFIC LICENSING BOARD / BLANTYRE 22 AUG 1940' datestamp, and without the green accounting crayon as usually encountered. Some gum apparent at edges. VERY RARE. Barefoot 5 / Mewett 806a
Note: why two examples were attached alongside each other and cancelled with differing datestamps is unclear. It would also appear that each was attached with additional glue which has seeped out around some perforation edges |
