Postal History 1903 (April), KEVII 4d registered postal stationery envelope (size G) addressed to ‘Russia / Livonia’. Bearing two 2½d pale ultramarine (SG 63) each tied by a hooded Registered Cape Town (22 Apr) datestamp. Livonia / Russian arrival backstamp (30 April). Russia switched from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar in 1918, giving an equivalent arrival date of 13th May. A very unusual destination.
 
Note: Livonia was originally situated in southern Estonia and northern Latvia. It was contested by Poland, Russia, and Sweden, finally becoming a Russian province in 1783. In 1918 Livonia was divided between Estonia and Latvia.
