1944 KGVI 2d, perf. 13, black and red-orange. Upper marginal vertical strip of four, centre printer's guide line in margin. Showing part of the curious 'JG' initials in margin, the 'J' portion only as the 'G' portion on the adjoining stamp. Superb unmounted. Most unusual. SG 41a and var.
Note: it is believed that the initials to be those of a De La Rue worker who drew out the plate in 1946. They appear very faintly on the June 1949 printing, and some show attempts to scratch out the offending letters |
