| REVENUE / Cigar Tax 189? Cigar Tax Band (443mm x 50mm) for 50 cigars and showing a duty of 7/6. Imperforate on all sides and with full original gum (small hinge remnant). Printed in black on cream paper with the ZAR Coat-of-Arms within a central double circle surrounded by wording ‘BAND VOOR SIGARENKIST / Z.A. REPUBLIEK’ with ‘50 / SIGAREN’ to the left and ‘7/6’ to the right. The text at the far ends of the band run in the opposite direction to that on the 3/9 and 15/- bands from the same issue. Vertical folds as to be expected from affixing to the container otherwise in remarkably fine condition. Apparently unrecorded in either Barefoot or the Transvaal Study Circle Revenue handbook. A very rare survivor. |
