| REVENUE / Cigar Tax 189? Cigar Tax Band (435mm x 55mm) for 100 cigars and showing a duty of 15/-. Imperforate on all sides and with full original gum (small hinge remnant). Printed in black on yellow surfaced paper with the ZAR Coat-of-Arms within a central double circle surrounded by wording ‘BAND VOOR SIGARENKIST / Z.A. REPUBLIEK’ with ‘100 / SIGAREN’ to the left and ‘15/-’ to the right. Vertical folds as to be expected from affixing to the container and a few minor surface marks, otherwise in remarkably fine condition. Apparently unrecorded in either Barefoot or the Transvaal Study Circle Revenue handbook. A very rare survivor. |
