Postal History (South African Occupation) 1914 (December), Stampless GSWA colour picture postcard (Owambos looking for diamonds in Pomona). Addressed to Natal by a member of the Union Forces who gives his forwarding address as “2nd Inf Brigade Train / ‘C’ Force / Cape Town’ though within the message states “Still at Luderitzbucht”. The card was cancelled with a very fine ARMY BASE P.O. / SOUTH AFRICA / 4 (9 Dec) double circle datestamp which was located at Luderitzbucht and is considered the first occupational postmark of SWA. The card also received a fine example of the rare POSTAGE FREE / PASSED BY / CENSOR / CAPE TOWN (12 Dec) machine roller cancellation in red. A superb example of campaign mail.
