1915 1d black and scarlet. Lower right corner vertical pair, major variety BLACK PRINTING DOUBLE. Hinged on upper stamp and margin, lower stamp unmounted although light horizontal bend. Upper stamp with black ink smear. An extraordinary multiple which is most likely UNIQUE. B.P.A. certificate (1987). SG D2a
Note: the nature of this type of variety almost always occurs at either upper or lower / periphery of the sheet. Bearing in mind that this is the corner pair, it may well be that this pair represents the most dramatic version of this variety. It is also interesting to note that it is NOT recorded in the Union Handbook |
