ZULULAND / Forgery 1888 GB QV ½d vermilion. An upper right corner marginal block of 30, each apparently bearing a forged ‘ZULULAND’ overprint, applied inverted. Creasing and some reinforced splitting, otherwise fine mint. Although widely regarded as a forgery, the overprint is virtually identical to known genuine examples apart from a few positions which appear 0.5 mm shorter. Philatelic Foundation certificate (1946) bears a photographs of a pane of 60 although the text refers to a block of 30, and states ‘that it is counterfeit’. SG 1 forgery.
