1914 (23rd July), Cape of Good Hope ‘One Penny’ on 1½d postal stationery card addressed to Germany cancelled by BARKLY WEST (23 July) double circle datestamp. World War I broke out on the 28th July (five days after posting), resulting in the card receiving a very fine two-line bilingual UNDELIVERABLE-WAR / ONBESTELBAAR-OORLOG cachet and a RETURNED L. O. CAPE TOWN (21 Sep) unframed double circle datestamp both struck in blue. Some edge faults at base, otherwise fine.
