| ESSAY for the 1887 registered postal stationery envelope. Utilising a Great Britain 1883-85 2d registration envelope (size G) without compensation notice. The stamp and text are printed in bluish green rather than blue. Surcharged ‘FOUR’ with bars cancelling the word ‘TWO’ (as adopted) and overprinted with ‘BRITISH BECHUANALAND’ in tall, thin seriffed black capitals in an arc above the imprinted stamp on the flap. Very fine and rare. Thy / Inglefield-Watson type RE E(12).
