| Postal History 1948 (24th October), incoming registered envelope sent airmail from CHINA. Addressed to Nkana, and bearing 1947-48 China Dr Sun Yat-sen and plum blossoms issue 300,000 x 3, 1,000,000 and 2,000,000 (pair) all tied by Tientsin (24 Oct) datestamps. With ‘dumb’ red on white registered label with ‘TSIENTSIN’ handstamped in red and a blue airmail label. Backstamped Tsientsin (24 Oct), Shanghai (25 Oct), Salisbury (6 Nov), Kitwe (8 Nov) transit / arrival datestamps. Also one indecipherable transit backstamp in Arabic (1 Nov). A few edge faults. A most unusual origin / destination. |
