1888 Unappropriated Dies £5 lilac and black. Very fine used with a fine and almost complete strike of HARTEBEESTEPAN / B.B. (DE 17 / 93) single circle datestamp with a proving ‘340’ BONC partly overlapping the datestamp. A very rare stamp used with two very rare postmarks. Exceptional. SG 21
Note: Holmes (page 76) states “A postal agency operated here from the middle of 1893 to the middle of 1894, a life of just twelve months.” |
