| REVENUE 1903 printed black on blue HUT TAX receipt headed ‘BRITISH CENTRAL AFRICA’. Bearing an oval ‘BRITISH CENTRAL AFRICA PROTECTORATE’ 3/- revenue stamp embossed in vermilion, with “One teacher’s Hut at Mlanji Mission Station” endorsed diagonally in manuscript. With facsimile signature of receiving official handstamped in violet, and ‘BRITISH CENTRAL AFRICA / MILANJI’ undated circular cachet struck in black, with year ‘1903’ also handstamped in black. Small thin at left, otherwise in remarkably fine condition. Very rare, believed to be one of very few BCA receipts recorded. Ex the collection of Joe Ross. |
