REVENUES AND FISCAL USE
AN395
REVENUE / Malawi 1970 (November), 12 page document (212x338mm) within folder and with two annexures. Page one bearing seven circular revenue stamps embossed in rose-red comprising the following duties: 5/-, 10/-, £1, £2, £20 (x 2) and £50 (total = £93.15/-). Each with wording ‘MALAWI REVENUE’ either side of a Coat-of-Arms and each bearing date slugs ‘19 11 70’. Although dated 19th November 1970 and denominated in Malawi pounds, Malawi’s currency changed to Kwachas almost three months earlier, on the 28th August 1970. Presumably embossed revenue dies were not yet available in the new currency. Rare, apparently unrecorded with sterling duties.
