c1842 incoming front, being part of an entire addressed to ‘Monsieur F. Daumas / missionnaire à / Mékuatling’ endorsed ‘Care of Rev. Dr. Philip / Church Square / Capetown, South Africa’. Rated ‘1/2’ with a framed ‘POST PAID’ cachet and a G.P.O. Cape Town crowned oval, both struck in black. The entire was further endorsed care of ‘Revd. T Atkinson / Colesberg’
 
Note: Rev. Dr. Philip of the London Missionary Society was also responsible for forwarding LMS mail to and from Bechuanaland at this time, in particular for Rev. Moffat in Kuruman. Rev. Theophilus Atkinson (1805-1889) of the LMS opened a new station at Colesberg in 1840 but left in October 1847 after his wife, Henriettta, fell ill.
