| POSTAL HISTORY 1903 (9th February), envelope sent registered to the USA, bearing a ‘One Shilling’ on 5/- green provisional surcharge and a KEVII 1d scarlet (SG 138, 140), both tied by Bloemfontein (FE 9) single circle datestamps. Also bearing a large ‘R’ in oval and a London (28 Feb) transit datestamp, both struck in black on the front. The reverse with a boxed Boston (9 Mar) arrival backstamp. Scarce commercial use of this provisional on cover. |
