| 1922 (23rd May), GB KGV 2d+2d grey-green registered stationery envelope surcharged ‘DUTY 5½d’ (size G, B&BS RE38, H&G C14a). Addressed to Mafeking and bearing KGV ½d (x2), 1d and 6d adhesives (SG 73, 74, 81) all tied by PALLA ROAD (MY 23 / 22) single circle relief type datestamps. It appears no registration cachet or label was available as the envelope is endorsed “Palla Rd / P.O.” at lower left and with registration number “67” inserted, both in manuscript. Very rare, with only one example recorded by the B&BS (RP16, p291) which has the same date, this probably being the item of record. |
