| 1893 (30th May), envelope with original contents addressed to Cape Town. Bearing a single example of the QV ‘Jubilee’ 2d grey-green and carmine (SG 34) tied by a very fine strike of the KEIMOES BECHUANALAND (30 May) single circle datestamp with a further superb strike at upper left. With P.O. UPINGTON (31 May) transit and Cape Town (7 June) arrival backstamps. A few edge stains at top otherwise a remarkably clean and attractive cover featuring a very scarce cancellation when used pre-annexation. A superb example of the 2d rate to the Cape. |
