1893 (27th March), 4d (vermilion) registered postal stationery envelope (H&G C7, B&BS RE 15a) addressed to Johannesburg. Bearing a single example of the Cape 2d bistre overprinted ‘British / Bechuanaland’ reading upwards (SG 32), tied by a TAUNGS / BECHUANALAND (23 Mar) single circle datestamp with a further strike below. Backstamped Vryburg (27 Mar) transit and Johannesburg (30 Mar) boxed registration cachet used as an arrival marking. Vertical crease at left, well clear of the adhesive. Scarce usage of this stamp alone on cover.
