1889 Cape of Good Hope ½d grey-black overprinted ‘Bechuanaland / Protectorate’ in green. With variety OVERPRINT TRANSPOSED. Hinge remnants, otherwise very fine mint. Extremely rare, being the third mint example recorded, one being in the Botswana Post archive. SG 52c
Note: research by Brian Hurst indicates 24 examples may originally have existed. A single used copy is known with a Ramoutsa postmark indicating most may have been used postally and the error not noticed at the time.
