1897 ‘ONE PENNY’ surcharge in red on 3/- black and sea-green. Upper right corner block of four, stamp 1/2 showing large part albino 'Y' of PENNY', with a trace of the red overprint remaining. Superb used cancelled FORT ANDERSON (JA 1 99) single circle datestamps. RARE. SG 53 and var.
Note: the Royal collection lists their example as being in an upper left corner block with stamps two and three of the upper row being affected. Perhaps this variety being progressive in nature? |
