Postal History 1941 30th July, cover bearing KGVI 1½d pair (SG 40), cancelled 'ASCENSION'. Reverse struck with violet 'Officer Commanding Troops' handstamp endorsed in ink 'Passed by censor' and duly signed. Addressed to England. Lightly soiled, very scarce.
Note: this handstamp believed to have been used by the detachment of Royal Artillery at Ascension Island between March 1941 and June 1942 |
