1878 5/- green (1st printing) BLOCK OF 24 (12x2) comprising two blocks of 12 either side of the vertical interpanneau gutter margin, being the upper two rows of the upper panes with side margin at right. Showing the Current Number ‘5’ at upper left and Plate Number ‘1’ at upper right. Also showing the characteristic wing margins of the Somerset House printing (one central row of perforations rather than rows either side of the gutter). Hinged on one and minor gum crease on two, otherwise superb fresh unmounted mint. A remarkable and impressive multiple. Rare. SG 20
