| BECHUANALAND PROTECTORATE 1890 (15th July), ‘Tamsen’ envelope addressed to the Transvaal bearing a single ‘Protectorate / Fourpence’ surcharge on ½d vermilion (SG 53, with 5mm spacing) tied by a KANYE BECHUANALAND (JY 15) single circle datestamp showing the date inverted. With a MAFEKING (JY 16) transit datestamp struck on the front and backstamped with Kimberley (JY 20) and Pretoria (JY 24) transit datestamps. Very fine. A scarce and attractive franking. |
