BRITISH BECHUANALAND 1891 (9th September), envelope addressed to Cape Town. Bearing a single 1888 unappropriated die 2d lilac and black (SG 11, deep shade) tied by a β€˜534’ BONC and a proving KURUMAN BECHUANALAND (SP 8) single circle datestamp, both struck in blue. Also showing a second Kuruman datestamp struck alongside. Backstamped with Vryburg (SP 11) transit and Cape Town (14 SP) arrival datestamps. Small edge tear not affecting the adhesive. An annotation by the receiver on the reverse indicates the sender was E. Finnis, who was the Chief Constable at Kuruman. A very scarce and most attractive example of Bechuanaland coloured cancellations and the 2d per half ounce letter rate to the Cape.
