| 1893 24th April, large piece being an acknowledgment of debt, headed at upper right 'Pretoria' and hand written in ink. The note reads 'I promise to pay to Cecil Rhodes Esq: the sum of Two Hundred pounds Sgt. (£200), for value received, payable at my office in Pretoria. J. Lamenberg(?).' No doubt a wonderful story attached to this. |
