| 1888 Unappropriated Dies 1/- green and black overprinted ‘Protectorate’. Showing variety FIRST 'o' OMITTED. Fine used with a light SHOSHONG single circle datestamp leaving the variety clear. An overly harsh BPA certificate (2014) states “a little soiled and washed, is genuine.” In our opinion, the colour is, if anything, above average for these highly fugitive stamps. A fine example of this rare variety which unlike most of the few recorded examples, shows no trace whatsoever of the ‘o’. SG 46a |
