1937 KGVI DEFINITIVE, SG 40-52  -  STAMPS

Printed 'WATERLOW & SONS LIMITED' publicity card prepared for the Spanish market, applied with KGVI ½d definitive printed in vermilion, imperforate with large margins and overprinted 'WATERLOW & SONS LTD. / SPECIMEN' (as Samuel type WS1 although smaller and at base). Further KGVI 3s large format Revenue in deep purple, imperforate with large margins and similarly overprinted. Along KGV Silver Jubilee 3d magenta and brown, KGVI Coronation 6d black and green, these also similarly overprinted. All four without the security punctues usually seen. Finally with a further two issued stamps Nyasaland KGV 3d and Somaliland KGV 1a Silver Jubilees. Each with their respective 'S.T.' number above, and each with a curious 'tick' mark alongside. Some light staining which appears to be from the gum used to apply the stamps. The KGVI ½d not previously seen either in this state or colour. A rare survivor in this format.
