| BECHUANALAND PROTECTORATE 1914 (23rd November) envelope sent registered to Rhodesia. Bearing KGV 2½d cobalt blue (SG 78) block of four tied by FRANCISTOWN (NO 23) single circle datestamps with further strikes alongside. Francistown registration cachet at upper left struck in violet. Bulawayo (24 Nov) transit and Salisbury (25 Nov) arrival backstamps. There is an unobtrusive split at lower right not affecting the adhesives and several hinge remnants on the reverse, otherwise very fine and a very scarce multiple, with the date of use proving this to be the earlier cobalt-blue shade. |
