| 1891 (31st August), ‘Vurtheim’ 1d postal stationery card addressed to Cape Town. The imprinted stamp is cancelled with a SMITSDORP (31 Aug) squared octagon datestamp with a second strike at left. Pretoria (2 Sep) transit and Cape Town (7 Sep) arrival backstamps. With sender’s oval cachet ‘THE NATAL BANK LIMITED / SMITSDORP’ on the reverse. Small tear at top and a few other peripheral faults otherwise fine.
