| c1900 (20th July), Anglo-Boer War period Dutch colour picture postcard addressed to the USA. Bearing a 5c adhesive tied by a Rotterdam (20 Jul) datestamp. The view side features a person standing on a beach with a pair of ‘trousers’ affixed containing a loose sheet of printed paper titled ‘Transvaalsch Volkslied.’ (Transvaal Anthem) with the anthem printed below. With printer’s (?) name at base of anthem: ‘Behoort bij Boerenbrief kaart. Exploitatie voor Nederland bij Joh. C.M. Van Mastrigt te Arnhem.’ Very fine. Unusual. |
