POSTAL HISTORY
AC978
Postal History c1892 (24th December), envelope front with fancy ‘BOOK POST’ printed in blue at top. Addressed to Graaff Reinet and bearing a single 1d rose-red (SG 41) tied by the distinctive segmented cancellation seen used on cheap-rate mail such as wrappers and circulars. The wrapper with faults including having been reduced and affixed to backing though still an attractive example of this scarce rate and marking.
