Postal History / Anglo-Boer War period 1902 (19th March), wrapper with sender’s details and ‘BOOK POST’ printed in blue at top. Addressed and sent registered at the printed matter rate to Grahamstown, bearing a ‘Hope Standing’ ½d green and a ‘Hope Seated’ 4d sage-green (SG 58, 65) tied by a ST GEORGES ST / CAPE TOWN (19 Mar) single circle datestamp. Endorsed ‘Register’ and with a (presumably registration) number in manuscript. Grahamstown (22 Mar) squared circle arrival backstamp. The reverse with various annotations regarding a legal transfer. An attractive example of mail sent at a registered printed matter rate (4d + ½d).
