| 1890 (22nd May), ‘Burmester’ envelope with original contents addressed to Cape Town. Bearing two ‘Vurtheim’ 1d rose (SG 176ba) tied by a PRETORIA (22 May) single circle datestamp. Cape Town (28 May) arrival backstamp. A few peripheral faults and the reverse with usual receiver’s manuscript annotations, otherwise a clean and attractive example of the 2d per half ounce letter rate to the Cape Colony. |
