T2154
c1895, part of a printed wrapper for ‘The Gold Fields News, and Barberton Herald.’ Addressed to Herschel, Cape Colony and bearing a single Vurtheim ½d (SG 175) tied by the ‘4’ in barred triangle obliterator allocated to Barberton. A fine example of the ½d printed matter rate to the Cape Colony.

Note: in ‘Southern African Mails’, page 422, Brian Trotter records the ½d per half ounce printed matter postage rate existing between the ZAR and Natal was extended to all of Southern Africa from the 1st September, 1895.
