Addressed to Port Elizabeth and bearing a pair of ‘Vurtheim’ 1d rose (SG 176b) tied by a light ZEERUST (6 Dec) squared circle datestamp struck in blue. Kimberley (6 Dec), MIDLAND DOWN (7 Dec) TPO and Port Elizabeth (9 Dec) transit / arrival backstamps. An attractive example of the 2d per half ounce letter rate to the Cape Colony. |
