| 1890 (10th September), ‘Burmester’ envelope with original contents addressed to Cape Town. Bearing a single ‘Vurtheim’ 2d olive-bistre (SG 178) tied by PRETORIA (10 Sep) single circle datestamps. Cape Town (16 Sep) arrival backstamp. The reverse with usual receiver’s manuscript annotations, otherwise a clean and attractive example of the 2d per half ounce letter rate to the Cape Colony. |
