| 1893 (29th January), envelope addressed to Germany. Bearing two ‘Vurtheim’ 2d olive-bistre (SG 178) tied by the scarce JOHANNESBURG (29 Jan) single circle datestamps (with dot at base). London (20 Feb) transit and Hannover (21 Feb) arrival backstamps. Some light staining, otherwise a fine example of the 4d per half ounce letter rate to a UPU member country. |
