1893 (30th March), envelope addressed in the distinctive hand of Emil Tamsen and sent registered to the USA. Bearing ‘Vurtheim’ ½d grey x 2, 1d rose, 2d olive-bistre and 6d pale dull blue (SG 175, 176b, 178, 182) all by NIJLSTROOM (30 Mar) single circle datestamps. With a London (6 Jun) transit struck in red on the front. The reverse with a light Geregistreerd Pretoria (14 May) oval datestamp (struck in magenta), RLO Cape Town (17 May), and New York (17 Jun) transit / arrival backstamps. One ½d and the 1d with faults otherwise an attractive multi-colour franking showing the 4d per half ounce letter rate to a UPU member country plus 6d for registration.
