| 1894 (17th February), ‘Vurtheim’ 1d postal stationery card addressed to England. Uprated with the addition of a HALVE PENNY provisional surcharge in red on 2d olive-bistre (SG 195). The imprinted stamp and adhesive share a neat PRETORIA (17 Feb) single circle datestamp. Cape Town (21 Feb) transit backstamp. The reverse with a message in shorthand. Scarce usage of the ½d provisional making up the 1½d postcard rate to England. |
