1902 (21st February), Anglo-Boer War period long ZAR 4d registered postal stationery envelope with the ZAR 4d imprinted stamp on the flap overprinted ‘E.R.I.’ Addressed to Germany and bearing 1d rose-red and green (pair) overprinted ‘E.R.I.’, 2½d dull blue and green overprinted ‘V.R.I.’ and a 2d brown and green surcharged ‘E.R.I. / Half / Penny’ (SG 229, 239, 243) all tied by GEREGISTREERD / PRETORIA Z.A.R. (21 Feb) boxed registration cachets. Also showing triangular Pretoria censor cachet. Stuttgart (17 Mar) arrival backstamp. An attractive example of a double weight 2½d per half ounce letter rate to a fellow UPU member country plus 4d registration.
