1897 (10th August), printed envelope addressed and sent registered to Holland bearing nine examples of the 1d rose-red and green (SG 217) all tied by ERMELO Z.A.R. (10 Aug) double circle datestamps. With registration number in manuscript and with neat oval ‘R/Z.A.R.’ struck in black. The sender’s address at upper left is given as ‘W. Iz. Slikkerveer / Gouvernements Hoofdonderweizer / Z. Afrik. Republiek. / Ermelo.’ With Pretoria (12 Aug) transit and ‘sGravenhage (4 Sep) arrival backstamps. A fine example of a double weight 2½d per half ounce rate to Europe plus the 4d registration fee.
