| 1896 (11th May), envelope addressed to Scotland bearing five examples of the ½d green (SG 216), all tied by JOHANNESBURG / 3 / ZAR / 1 (11 May) duplex datestamps. With a Dundee (1 Jun) arrival backstamp. Roughly opened at top and vertical fold clear of the adhesives, otherwise a fine example of the 2½d per half ounce rate introduced on the 1st December 1892 for letters to the United Kingdom. |
