| Postal History 1879 (December), envelope with contents bearing 'THREE PENCE' on 4d blue (SG 34), cancelled unclear barred oval and alongside 'CERES DE 17 79' datestamp. Addressed to Cape Town with arrival strike on front for the next day. The letter to E. Burmester requesting to be sent by first train, a 'lorgnette - sketch enclosed' (apparently no Specsavers at that time). Attractive and appealing. |
